LOIS EILEEN OVERLAND FORMERLY OF HAMMOND, IN died Tues, Dec 22, 2009 in Catherine Kasper Life Center. Lois was born Nov 15, 1926 the daughter of Frank & Josephine Stuwar Walge in Hammond, IN. She graduated from Hammond Tech with the class of 1945. 1949 in Hammond she took Robert S. Overland as her husband, he preceded her in death in 1988. Lois' first priority was being a homemaker. She also volunteered at St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago for 12 years. Lois was a member of Our Lady Perpetual Help Church in Hammond & the St. Catherine Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading & her family. Lois is survived a son, Brother Bob Overland, FS of Donaldson, IN; a daughter, Patti Jo (Martin) Freels of St. John, IN; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Overland of Beaumont, CA; special niece, Pat Newcomb; several nieces & nephews survive as well. Also surviving are lifelong friends: Pat & Bill Gay; Sr. Teresa Schleper, P.H.J.C.; Madonna Leasure; & Pat & Bob Honig. Preceded in death by her husband & parents. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EST on Wed, Dec 22, 2009, in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial was be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. EST in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. The Reverend Father Edward Konerman, S.J., officiate. Additional visitation was be held on Sat Dec 26, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m CST at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond, IN 46323. Services were immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. A private burial was held in Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Contributions in Lois' name may be given to the Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ or the Fiat Spiritus Community at P.O. Box 1, Donaldson, Indiana 46513. Graduated from Hammond Tech @ 1954(?). Spent 6 years in Marines. Worked for Inland/Mittal Steel for 43 years. Retired as supervisor in machine shop of the Research and Development Lab of Inland/Mittal.
PATRICIA (MILLIGAN) SHERRICK
Patricia J. Sherrick (nee Milligan), age 65, of Hammond went to Heaven, Monday, December 9, 2002. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Michael (Mandy) Sherrick of LA and Steven Lee Sherrick of AZ; two daughters, Tracy Kay (Larry) Keller and Lisa Ann (Don) Lovelady, both of IN; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: three brothers: Larry Lee (Marietta) and Russell Milligan, both of IL, Timothy Milligan of IN; one sister, Sandra (Richard) Mantel of IN; many nieces, nephews and cousins and several special friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Nina Milligan.
Funeral services 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 13, 2002 at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond. Deacon Jacob Roquet of the Woodmar Baptist Church, officiating. At rest, Concordia Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home. Patricia was a longtime area resident, an avid gardener and retired from LTV Steel with twenty-six years of service. Patricia graduated from Hammond Technical Vocational High School in 1955 and worked at the Calumet Theater during high school.

Ben Sanchez was my best friend not only in high school, but for many years until his passing. I miss my friend, I feel blessed to have known him. He is now spending his time with God. May he rest in peace.

My brother Wayne had many friends and was a best friend to me. I miss him so much, I know he is in a better place. He now can walk, run and breath without pain. He had sucessful open heart surgery, but had complications with his colon and died with sepsis. We miss you my baby brother.
